Men VS Women Language

I definitely agree that men and women use language differently. Women we sometimes have this thing where we say one thing, but it means another. This is just an example and I know men will most likely agree, but the way men may communicate with their friends not the same way they would a woman. The same goes for women, I feel like we have this thing with gossip and we definitely gossip way more than men.

For example, when I speak to my boyfriend and I try to elaborate about an outfit or start talking about colors like cobalt blue or mint he does not understand.  If I were to explain this to my girlfriend she would know exactly what I meant by these colors. Women and men will forever have different languages. I know when my boyfriend starts talking about his cars or football it’s definitely like listening to a different language. I do believe men and women have a common ground when it comes to certain subjects, but we will always have some misunderstandings.

  1. I do agree men and women use language and verbally communicate differently in some areas, and feel women definitely tend to gossip more than men. One of the main reasons, I have always gravitated towards more male friends than female. However, I have to submit that I don't think our differences are always topic content though, and if they are topic in nature, ex: sports, etc. I think it can have to do with gender notions and expectations placed on each gender by society, and more so in upbringing environment.

I say this because my own family (children and grandchildren)both male and female, young and old, are all sports minded. Also, my daughter-in-law was raised in similarly sports minded family environment, void of stereotypical gender notion expectations in this area. So I believe more than simple gender can also greatly impact our use of language.

  2. Women totally do that! I know I always just say the first thing that comes to my mind without even thinking about it and then realize I meant another thing. I feel like half the time it turns into miscommunication unless an explanation was given. Women definitely do gossip more than men as well. I agree with that! I noticed men do gossip, but as always women just go so much into detail that it turns into a whole other world of gossip that makes men look less gossip. Women also think that they can get their point across with a whole random language too. Like I said above, we mean one thing but say another, just in our own language.
